3DSystems' Cube is a pre-assembled 3D printer aimed at home and hobby consumers.
The Cube functions much like MakerBot's Thing-O-Matic, fed by a spool of plastic: ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) available in a variety of cheerful colors, however the Cube printer looks quite different, sporting a friendly-looking plastic chassis.
Like Makerbot's Thingiverse, 3DSystems are developing a community Web site for hosting Cube designs called Cubify. The Cube uses .STL design files.
Cubify site also offers a 3D printing service, like Sculpteo, allowing you to place an order for 3DSystems to print and ship out objects.
3DSystems also offer the CubeX 3D printer, an update on the Cube that can print in up to three different colours, and the Sense 3D scanner, designed to integrate seamlessly with the Cube and CubeX.
